Frequently Asked Questions
What is ColourTurtle?
ColourTurtle helps you keep a record of how your days actually go, so you do not have to rely on memory alone. Instead of trying to remember what last month was like or why something changed, you build a clearer record one day at a time.
The point is not to rate your life. It is to help you see how you are actually spending it. Over time, daily check-ins begin to show habits, changes, and longer-term patterns that are difficult to notice from memory alone.
Why isn't ColourTurtle just a regular journal?
A journal usually preserves individual moments. Each entry matters mainly on its own. In ColourTurtle, any one check-in matters less than what you can see across many of them.
Over time, the focus shifts from what happened on one particular day to what is changing across weeks and months: which activities are taking up more time, what keeps being postponed, and which habits appear or disappear. That longer view is the main reason for keeping the record.
Why are one or two minutes a day enough?
The value of ColourTurtle comes from consistency, not from the amount of text. A few minutes each day can tell you more over time than a long entry written weeks later from memory.
A short daily check-in is also easy to fit into the day and less likely to become another chore. Once those small check-ins add up, they make gradual changes easier to see.
Do I need to check in every day?
No. Regular check-ins make the record more complete and help patterns appear sooner, but missing a few days does not make what you have already recorded useless.
Life is rarely perfectly consistent. If you miss a day, or several, just continue from where you are. Your previous check-ins are still there and still useful.
What if the day was “ordinary”?
Most days are not memorable events. But most of life is made of exactly those days. Everyday routines shape habits, and habits gradually shape how you live.
If you record only unusual events, it is easy to lose sight of what your weeks and months are actually filled with. Ordinary days give the rest of the history its context.
When does ColourTurtle start becoming useful?
You may notice recurring patterns after just a few days, but a fuller picture takes time.
The longer your history becomes, the easier it is to see changes that happened gradually: new habits, shifting priorities, long periods of tiredness, or periods when things were moving steadily in a better direction.
What does the “Timeline” section show?
The Timeline brings your daily check-ins and observations together in chronological order. Instead of looking at isolated entries, you can see how things changed over time.
That context can make an individual day easier to understand: what came before it, what followed it, and whether it was unusual or part of a longer pattern.
Why do some observations not appear right away?
Two or three days are rarely enough to say much about a person's life. A short-term change may be random rather than part of a real pattern.
ColourTurtle therefore waits until there is enough history before showing some observations. This reduces the chance of treating a temporary fluctuation as a lasting change.
What are “Observations”?
Observations are summaries drawn from your own history. They point out changes or patterns that may be easy to miss from day to day.
They are not advice, judgments, or instructions on how to live. ColourTurtle shows what is present in your data and leaves the interpretation to you.
Can I trust ColourTurtle's conclusions?
ColourTurtle does not make decisions for you. It points out patterns in the history you have recorded; what those patterns mean is for you to decide.
Treat an observation as something worth considering, not as an unquestionable truth. ColourTurtle can help you notice more, but it cannot replace your own understanding of your life.
Who can see my entries?
Your entries are private. ColourTurtle does not publish them or give other users access to your personal history.
Privacy is not an optional extra for a service like this. It is a basic requirement for the idea to make sense at all.
Are my entries used to train artificial intelligence models?
No. Personal user entries are not used to train artificial intelligence models.
The history you create in ColourTurtle is there for you: to help you understand your own life, not to serve as training data.
What is included in the free version?
The free version lets you start using ColourTurtle, build your own history, and try the core features of the service.
That is enough to decide whether this way of keeping track of your days works for you and whether you want to keep using it over time.
What does the paid subscription include?
The paid subscription adds features that become more useful as your history grows. As more data accumulates, you can look further back, compare longer periods, and access more long-term observations and analytics.
These features matter most after you have been using ColourTurtle for a while, when there is enough history to show changes across weeks and months.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Your entries are kept. When the paid period ends, you can continue using the free version without losing the history you have already built.
