About ColourTurtle

“The most precious thing a person has is life. It is given only once, and it must be lived so that there is no excruciating regret for years wasted without purpose, no burning shame over a petty and trivial past, and so that, when dying, one can say: all my life and all my strength were given to the finest cause in the world — the struggle for the liberation of humanity.”

— Nikolai Ostrovsky, “How the Steel Was Tempered”

We rarely notice our own lives passing. One day follows another, often much like the one before. Weeks become months, months become years, and it can feel as if real life is still ahead of us, as if the important part has not quite begun. Then one day it becomes hard to ignore how much time has passed. There is less energy. Things that once seemed temporary have long since become routine, and the things we once wanted to make room for are still being postponed.

The hardest part is not the tiredness or the mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes are allowed; lying to yourself isn't. Years spent without purpose rarely feel tragic while they are passing. They are built from small things: putting off what matters, living on autopilot, always telling yourself “later.” It happens gradually. You get used to it, until whole days begin to pass without leaving much behind.

ColourTurtle began as an attempt to take an honest look at life as it is actually being lived. There is no empty motivational talk here, no endless promises of success, and no magic formulas pretending that a few pieces of advice can change a person. ColourTurtle does not try to tell you how to live. It has a simpler purpose: to help you see what you are actually spending your life on.

Life-changing events are rare. More often, life is shaped by what repeats: what you give your attention, energy, and time to every day. At first, these things can seem small, temporary, or unimportant. But ordinary life is made from them. Sometimes seeing that clearly is enough to put other things in perspective.

At the heart of ColourTurtle is a simple daily check-in. You record where your energy, attention, and time went that day: sleep, work, rest, entertainment, routine tasks, or something that genuinely matters to you. Over time, those check-ins give you a record you can look back on: what is taking up more of your life, and what keeps being pushed aside for later.

ColourTurtle does not judge you or tell you what you should be doing. It simply gives you a way to ask yourself, from time to time: is this really how I want to be spending my life?

And maybe that alone matters.
